Job Overview:
Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County is searching for a seasoned fundraising leader to serve as its next Senior Vice President of Development, a full-time executive post in Madison that carries a $95,000 – $110,000 salary and the mandate to drive the organization toward a $9 million annual revenue goal. Reporting directly to the President & CEO and supervising a growing development team, you will set multi-year funding strategy, cultivate and steward major donors, stage high-impact signature events, and present revenue forecasts to the board. Success in this role calls for at least ten years of nonprofit fundraising or equivalent revenue-generation experience (including three years of staff leadership), a track record with six-figure gifts and corporate partnerships, and the storytelling skills to inspire community investors. Key Responsibilities:
Resource Development (40%)
- Develop and implement annual fund development plans to meet revenue goals.
- Establish and adjust annual and multi-year fundraising targets with senior leadership.
- Train key stakeholders on fundraising activities, including donor retention.
- Plan and execute high-quality fundraising events, securing sponsorships and partnerships.
Donor & Major Gifts Management (30%)
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors with tailored plans.
- Maintain personalized communication with major donors.
- Design and manage donor recognition programs.
- Collect and analyze donor feedback to improve engagement strategies.
Strategic Leadership & Team Supervision (20%)
- Guide and review the performance of the Assistant Vice President.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Prepare and present detailed fundraising reports to senior leadership and the board.
- Lead board committees and align development activities with organizational priorities.
Additional Duties (10%)
- Develop and manage the department’s budget.
- Oversee marketing campaigns to increase visibility and engagement.
- Create public relations documents to support organizational needs.
- Represent the organization at community events and build strategic alliances.
- Collaborate with other youth-serving organizations and community groups.
Budget Responsibilities:
- Develop, manage, and oversee the budget for all fundraising and development activities.
Internal Relationships:
- Maintain communication with the CEO, Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers for coordination and reporting.
External Relationships:
- Engage with other agencies, business leaders, community groups, and the media to exchange ideas and raise funds.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of fundraising techniques and non-profit funding sources.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills for fundraising operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong prioritization skills.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in non-profit fundraising, sales/marketing, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of direct supervision of staff.
- Experience in special events management or major gift solicitation.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
- Ability to interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals.
- Physical ability to maintain files, operate office equipment, and sit for extended periods.
- May occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds.
