Key Responsibilities
Customer Experience & Sales
- Build and guide bookselling skills in self and others.
- Highlight customer-focused culture and make sure that all the employees uphold service standards.
- Monitor and improve merchandising performance, layout migration, and inventory availability.
- Provide category and title performance feedback to shoppers to drive volume-proportional inventory decisions.
- Resolve customer issues and handle escalated service concerns professionally and effectively.
Staff Scheduling & Leadership
- Offer coverage of the primary retail operations: sales floor, reserve desk, and registers.
- Allocate workers to projects relevant to product maintenance and merchandising goals.
- Be a model during the peak seasons and tourist seasons.
- Create schedules and make staff adjustments to meet business needs, as required.
- Offer floor team coaching and performance feedback in a professional and discreet manner.
Store Operations & Procedures
- Carry out stock transfer, handle returns from publishers, and handle stock movement.
- Adhere to operational compliance with company systems, policies, and best practices.
- Collaborate with other departments (Inventory, Maintenance, HR, etc.) to improve store performance.
- Use POS systems and inventory software to monitor and manage on a daily basis.
- Participate in loss prevention processes and store audits.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in retail management or supervision, preferably in books, media, or specialty retail.
- Good interpersonal and leadership competencies.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Retail systems capability (inventory management software, task management software, POS).
- Ability to solve complicated customer issues and think rationally under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to train and develop staff in an inclusive and diverse environment.
- Strong organizational and attention to detail skills.
- Should be punctual and have a good work ethic and be reliable.
