🏗️ Role Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for a dynamic Electrical Engineer (EIT) to become a part of its Electrical Team located in Alpharetta, Georgia. This full-time, on-site position is rooftop solar and renewable energy system focused and is ideal for early-career engineers who are interested in clean energy design, electrical systems, and cross-functional project delivery.

As a member of a high-performing team, you’ll be assigned challenging work that encompasses the design and development of solar PV systems, battery storage systems, EV charging infrastructure, and building-level electrical design. The working environment is high-pace, collaborative, and filled with learning and mentorship.


🛠️ Key Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems including:
    • Rooftop solar installations
    • Battery storage
    • EV charging stations
    • General building electrical infrastructure
  • Support project teams in active production and development tasks.
  • Participate in internal and client-facing project meetings
  • Provide assistance with electrical construction cost estimates and project specifications
  • Do system sizing, power analysis, and component selection.
  • Coordinate drawings and as-built documentation
  • Create quality outputs to client requirements to boost retention levels.
  • Work every day with interdisciplinary groups across the firm
  • Create and deliver in-depth reports, electrical design schematics, and detailed technical reports.

🎓 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred)
  • EIT Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 2+ years of direct experience in electrical design, ideally in:
    • Solar PV systems
    • Building electrical design
    • EV charging systems
  • Working knowledge of:
    • National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA standards
    • Energy codes applicable to system compliance
  • Technical proficiency in:
    • AutoCAD
    • BIM/Revit (a plus)
    • SKM or ETAP for power system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, etc.)
  • Design experience in:
    • Electrical power systems
    • Lighting design
    • Fire alarm systems
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under deadline pressure
