The Assistant Director for the Sheriff’s Project Management Office – Construction is a pivotal leadership role within the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Direct the operations of a major division within the Sheriff’s Project Management Office, including facilities planning, fleet services, and construction.
  • Collaborate with the senior management team to implement departmental policies and programs.
  • Establish work priorities, assist in developing organizational goals, and administer personnel policies.
  • Create and plan the division budget, keep an eye on spending, and check internal controls.
  • Review funding proposals, oversee vendor services, and make sure projects meet goals.
  • Find sources of money, write grant applications, and see that contract rules are followed.
  • Help with long-range building plans like master planning and construction.
  • Maintain effective communications with stakeholders and coordinate planning, engineering, and construction work.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence, analyze information, and make recommendations on departmental goals.
  • Manage records and perform responsible administrative tasks.
  • Evaluate employee performance, training needs, and equipment requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in business administration, architecture, civil engineering, or a related field.

Experience: At least five years of progressively responsible professional experience related to the assignment, with at least two years in a managerial or supervisory role. (A master’s degree may substitute for one year of the required non-specialized experience.)

Knowledge of:

  • Public administration principles, including organization and budgeting.
  • Local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to design and construction.
  • Methods of budget preparation, research methods, and statistics.
  • Effective public relations techniques, program evaluation, and policy development.
  • Managerial team building and administrative problem-solving.

Ability to:

  • Plan and direct a Project Management Office division and administer a division budget.
  • Analyze administrative challenges, develop solutions, and implement changes.
  • Establish effective working relationships with officials, subordinates, and the public.
  • Prepare clear reports and exhibit diplomacy in politically sensitive situations.
  • Evaluate data and develop resolutions to administrative problems.
  • Use communication skills effectively for information gathering and instruction.
